Howdy Neighbor!

August 20th, 2010

The news came a few months ago that Facebook was opening a Seattle office!  Wow!  How awesome!  The site with more than 500 million users to land in the Jet City/Emerald City/Rainy City!  Then the news came that Facebook Seattle had found space near Seattle’s iconic Pike Place Market!  Wow!  Wait!  Smashing Ideas  is near the market!  Finally we began watching the building across the alley – one of the floors was being painted, cleaned and we’re almost positive readied for Facebook.  They moved in last week but today is the first day the blinds are up.  We’re trying to be neighborly and say “Hi” but thinking our approach might be too stalkerish (banging on the window with signs that say “Hi Facebook”). We’re also pretty sure they’re going to close those blinds for good now.  Maybe taking them a homemade pie is the better approach? What do you think?  We hope they read our blog – as we know so many people out there do!  We’d love to say hello Facebook Seattle (maybe an invite to next week’s open house?).  Since Smashing Ideas is all about designing and innovating for the kid’s space we’ll close our note with:  “Won’t you please, won’t you please, please won’t you be my neighbor?”

-Hugs, the SI team

P.S. We’re testing out Facebook Places

Mega Music

August 18th, 2010

Just launched: Moose and Zee lead little maestros through the Nick Jr Mega Music Game.  Players make all the creative decisions to build their own Mega melodies with their favorite characters.  Featuring The Fresh Beat Band, Dora the Explorer, Team Umizoomi, or Ni Hao, Kai-lan, players pick a theme song and make it their very own.  They can speed up the tempo and volume, select which voices and instruments they want to use, sing along with lyrics on the bottom of their screen and really customize their Mega music experience!  The site was created using Flash as well as Adobe SoundBooth for the time-stretching tempo adjustments.  “Do do Dora, do do do Dora – hooray!”
